Individual covers one Nintendo account. Family covers up to 8 accounts in a group, activated by the primary account holder. If multiple people play, Family is the better deal.
Only in free-to-play games (Fortnite, Apex Legends, Rocket League). Most paid online games (Splatoon, Mario Kart, Smash Bros.) require an active Switch Online subscription.
Access to online play, the classic library and cloud saves stops. Purchased games and local saves remain. Cloud saves are kept for another 180 days — you can renew without losing them.
